Bangladesh Biman signs historic deal, adds 14 aircraft to Boeing

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has added 14 aircraft to its fleet expansion with Boeing. A historic agreement for the purchase of 14 aircraft was signed between Biman Bangladesh Airlines and American aircraft manufacturer Boeing at the Ruposhi Bangla Ballroom of Hotel Intercontinental at 8 pm yesterday. According to the agreement, 10 wide-body (B 787 Dreamliner) and 4 narrow-body (B737) aircraft will be purchased.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Ms. Afroza Khanam, MP. Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, and Advisor to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Humayun Kabir, were present as special guests.

At the end of the ceremony, the minister told reporters that the BNP government, committed to the people, is determined to implement its election manifesto as soon as possible. He said that the government’s goal is to develop Biman Bangladesh Airlines as a state-of-the-art and passenger-friendly airline. For this purpose, adding modern technology aircraft to the fleet was very important. Through today’s agreement, a total of 14 state-of-the-art aircraft will be added to the Biman fleet.During this time, he respectfully recalled the bilateral meeting between US President Jimmy Carter and martyred President Ziaur Rahman.

Speaking as a special guest, State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, said that this agreement is not just a commercial decision, but will take the relationship between Bangladesh and the United States to a new horizon. He also said that important progress has been achieved in the development of the country’s aviation sector through the purchase of 14 Boeing aircraft.
Also present at the event were US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Rumi A. Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar ndc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Rumi A. Hossain, Managing Director Kaiser Sohel Ahmed, and senior officials from Boeing and the government.
