Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam has announced a 50 percent discount on airfare for gazetted July fighters and martyrs’ family members.
She made the announcement at a July fighters’ honoring and discussion meeting organized by the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation on Tuesday (August 11) evening. The July fighters were honored at the event.
At the event, the minister said that gazetted July fighters and martyrs’ family members will get a 50 percent discount on airfare.
At the same event, a 36 percent discount was also announced for July fighters and martyrs’ family members at hotels and motels of the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation to commemorate ‘July 36’.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat was present as a special guest at the event.
He said that it is not logical to compare the freedom fighters of 1971 with the July 2024 fighters. According to his commentary, the freedom fighters of 1971 achieved the country’s independence, while the July 2024 fighters played a role in protecting the country’s sovereignty.
The event also discussed the recognition of the contribution of the July fighters and various government initiatives for their welfare.
