Japan is a trusted friend of Bangladesh: Aviation and Tourism Minister

Japan is an old and trusted friend of Bangladesh and the country has stood by Bangladesh during its difficult times, said Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, MP.

She said this while speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Japan-Bangladesh Business Women Conference’ held at Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka at 6 pm today.

The minister said, “Japan is an old and trusted friend of Bangladesh. Japan has stood by Bangladesh during its difficult times. We are working towards mutual prosperity. Japan has made significant contributions to the infrastructure development and technological advancement of Bangladesh.”

She said that former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia played a historic role in women’s empowerment. By making secondary education free for women, she set a groundbreaking example in the expansion of women’s education and women’s empowerment.

The minister further said, “Following Begum Khaleda Zia, the current government’s Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has made education free up to degree level for women. By ensuring women’s education and women’s economic empowerment, we are working to build a prosperous, inclusive and developed Bangladesh.”

The event was attended by businessmen and women entrepreneurs, including the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, the Chief Representative of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and leaders of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

The conference discussed various aspects of trade and commerce, investment, women entrepreneurship development and increasing mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan.
