A high-level meeting has been held with the aim of further expanding cooperation in the civil aviation and tourism sectors between Bangladesh and European Union countries.
Representatives from France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and the European Union accredited to Bangladesh paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Afroza Khanam, MP, and the State Minister, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, at the conference room of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism in the Bangladesh Secretariat today at 1:00 PM.
The meeting was attended by the French Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet; the UK Ambassador, H.E. Mrs. Sarah Cooke; the Spanish Ambassador, Mr. Gabriel Sistiaga; the Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy, H.E. Mrs. Anja; and the Deputy Chief of the European Union Mission, Mrs. Baiba Zerin.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized further strengthening, energizing, and multidimensionally expanding the existing friendly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the European Union countries. Additionally, detailed discussions were held regarding the enhancement of mutual cooperation and, in particular, the development of the civil aviation sector.
The inclusion of Airbus aircraft as part of the fleet expansion of Biman Bangladesh Airlines featured prominently in the discussions. During the meeting, the Minister and the State Minister expressed interest in purchasing Airbus aircraft with the aim of establishing a sustainable mixed fleet while safeguarding national interests.
In response, representatives from European nations pledged and expressed their commitment to providing all necessary cooperation in this regard.
