Bangladesh and Malaysia Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Tourism

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) of the country, YB Tuan Chiu Chun Man, met with the State Minister of Political Affairs, Civil Aviation Administration and Tourism, M. Rashid Sangsal Millat, in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The High Commissioner to Malaysia, Manzur Karim Chowdhury, was present at the meeting on August 18, 2026.

Various discussions were held on strengthening mutual cooperation in the tourism sector between Bangladesh and Malaysia. Emphasis was placed on creating new opportunities in the sector to ensure diverse and experiential tourism experiences for the participants of the two countries.

The content includes strengthening domestic bilateral relations, cultural exchanges, increasing the number and frequency of flights between Bangladesh and Malaysia, and capacity development, simplifying visa procedures and pre-verification, experiences in the sector, and discovering new models.

In addition, the hospitality sector and its development were discussed. The meeting focused on increasing the number of skilled and trained manpower in Malaysia’s tourism and hospitality sector and increasing the number of qualified Bangladeshi job opportunities.

The two sides emphasized on deepening the bilateral ties between the two countries through tourism development, people-to-people exchanges and cultural exchanges. It was hoped that such an alternative would play an important role in further advancing Malaysia’s tourism and cultural relations.

Also present were Malaysia’s Deputy Secretary for Tourism Chua Choon Hwa, Tourism Malaysia-Asia and Africa International Promotion Kumar Deb Nuwal Fadilah Mi, MOTAC and Tourism Malaysia’s Senior Officer, Deputy High Commissioner Mishari Senar Mosammatna Fateka and Bangladesh’s Ambassador.
