Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh pays courtesy call on Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism and State Minister

This afternoon, Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Ms Listyowati paid a courtesy call on Hon’ble Minister Afroza Khanam, MP and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
During the meeting, importance was laid on developing relations between the two countries. The Ambassador expressed Indonesia’s interest in working together to develop the tourism sector of Bangladesh.
The Minister said that the current government is working to develop the country’s aviation and tourism sectors. There is a considerable tourist demand from Bangladesh in Indonesia. The Bangladesh government is seriously considering the continuation of Visa On Arrival status in Indonesia for domestic ordinary passport holders.
The State Minister said that as part of the development of the country’s tourism sector, we have taken initiatives to modernize the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute under the ministry. Moreover, the government is considering setting up a Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) unit in the country with the aim of establishing an aviation hub.
At the same time, the ambassador expressed his interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute for the development of the hospitality sector in Bangladesh. He also expressed his commitment to cooperate with the government in restoring Visa On Arrival status for Bangladeshi passport holders.
