A day-long free eye camp was held at the museum premises in West Bandutia area of Ward No. 7 of Manikganj Sadar Upazila. This public service program started at 9 am today at the museum under the initiative of Rahimunnesa-Enayet Foundation, Meher-Aziz Foundation, Manikganj Literary and Cultural Council (Dhaka) and under the supervision of Dhaka Lions Club.
The program began under the chairmanship of Professor Abul Islam Sikder, President of Manikganj Museum. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Ms. Afroza Khanam Rita, MP, was present as the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner Manikganj Nazmun Ara Sultana, Superintendent of Police Manikganj Mohammad Sarwar Alam, Administrator Manikganj Zilla Parishad Advocate Jamilur Rashid Khan, Civil Surgeon Manikganj A.K.M. Mofakhkharul Islam along with local dignitaries, doctors and social workers were present as special guests.
Experienced ophthalmologists at the camp examine the eyes of the patients and provide necessary medical advice. In addition, free medicines are distributed and complex patients are referred for advanced treatment.
The organizers said that such initiatives will continue in the future to provide healthcare to the underprivileged.
