The government has initiated measures to provide various special services to expatriate cardholders, including special discounts on air tickets, access to the Balaka Lounge, and priority check-in and boarding. These benefits will be provided in phases through the current government’s expatriate card.
This information was disclosed on Tuesday (July 21) at 11:00 AM during a briefing meeting held at the conference room of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Bangladesh Secretariat, regarding the roles of airport-related agencies in the distribution of expatriate cards.
The meeting was presided over by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, MP. Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, MP, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, and State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Haque, MP were present.
At the meeting, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam said that the government has taken various initiatives to ensure all kinds of facilities and amenities for expatriate Bangladeshis. A policy decision has been taken to provide special discounts on Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets and use of Balaka Lounge.
She also said that a shuttle bus service has already been launched at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for the convenience of passengers. In addition, the government is determined to ensure harassment-free air services for expatriates.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat said that special discounts for expatriates are also being considered in hotels and motels of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation. In addition, initiatives will be taken to introduce priority check-in and boarding facilities for expatriate card holders.
At the beginning of the meeting, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury presented various issues of cooperation required for the implementation of the expatriate card included in the election manifesto of the current government to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
At that time, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (Foreign Employment Affairs in the Asia-Pacific Region) Dr. Md. Shakirul Islam Khan, senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and representatives of relevant organizations were present.
